Exploring Bidadari: Food Finds, Scenic Strolls & More

We’re sure you’ve heard of Bidadari – one of the newer estates within Toa Payoh Town. As the estate takes shape, it’s generated much buzz, with some even touting it as the “new Bishan”. Join us on a tour around the area, as we explore the newly developed Bidadari estate and its close neighbour, Potong Pasir.

Visit Alkaff Vista and Lakeview for a Sneak Peek into ‘Urban Oasis’ Living

While many of the projects in Bidadari are still under construction,  you can  get a glimpse into Bidadari’s ‘urban oasis’ concept by checking out Alkaff Vista and Alkaff Lakeview, two of the earlier projects to be completed in the estate! Some residents have already moved into their flats, and are amongst the first to enjoy amenities such as rooftop gardens and community facilities around the estate.

Current and future residents of Bidadari will have much to look forward to. The upcoming Bidadari Park located at the centre of the estate will add plenty of greenery and open space. This includes Winnie-the-Pooh inspired woodlands, marshes, and streams, where you could live out your childhood dream of exploring Hundred Acre Woods.

Bidadari Park will also be home to Alkaff Lake, which will be designed to recreate the sense of tranquility of the former Alkaff Lake Gardens. The lake isn’t just built for #aesthetics – it will also double up as a stormwater retention pond, reducing the risk of floods in the area.

Enjoy Tasty Food Around Potong Pasir

Getting hungry after your walk about? You’ll be spoilt for choice at Potong Pasir, which is just a 15-minute walk from Bidadari’s Alkaff district.

With its rich heritage, Potong Pasir is home to plenty of famous eating places, like River South (Hoe Nam) Prawn Noodles, known for its extensive menu of prawn noodles, or Penguin’s Kitchen, which offers affordable Thai fare.

Those craving sweet treats can check out cafes like Kizuna, which serves coffee, fresh bakes, and even lunch bowls. Durian lovers might want to pop by Ms Durian, which specialises in durian-flavoured confectionery – from durian cake to durian coconut milk pudding!

Stroll Along Kallang River

End off your visit with a scenic stroll along the Kallang Park Connector, which runs along the Kallang River. While there, you can enjoy views of the iconic sloping roofs of the Potong Pasir blocks.

Fun fact: the 7.87km-long Park Connector runs all the way from Kallang to Bishan, so you might even be able to take a (long) walk home from here!
